Healthy food doesn’t have to taste bad. Often times, many people are turned off of raw food or other so-called “healthy” versions of foods they love because the food is not prepared properly, creatively, or lacks an infusion of taste. No wonder people turn their heads away in search of better looking food. No wonder people run back so fast to their “traditional” foods.
When I discovered raw food a couple of years ago, I toyed with it here and there but I was still eating poultry and A LOT of seafood. I constantly felt bloated and while my skin’s always been kind to me, I had more breakouts than I would have liked. On top of that, I stayed at a steady 145lbs. Numbers from the scale never mean much to me since I weight train and much of the weight is actually muscle and not fat. However, the more I incorporated raw foods and lowered the amount of animal products in my diet, the more my energy levels would increase. I’d feel less of that “heavy-feeling”, and my skin would glow. Within 6 months I went down to 128lbs. With more intrigue, I purchased a bunch of books, researched online, attended classes and soon found myself immersed in the world of raw. I was so afraid to let go of eating chicken, tuna, and egg whites as many fitness experts would promote “lean protein” as part of weight training. Just look at the typical bodybuilding diet. I was afraid I’d lose muscle the day I stopped eating animal-based proteins. I trained for about 8 years with that diet, so it’s been a long journey to get to where I am today even though it’s admittingly at the back of mind every now and then! I use hemp and brown rice protein in place of whey protein and I work out just as I did before going vegan. I am a work in progress.
I’m always learning new things. It’s just amazing how much crap exists in our food chain. You’re kidding yourself if you think the government is protecting you and regulating what goes onto our store shelves. Education is your ammunition. I live and breathe fitness and health. It’s my passion. I love to see other people make changes to improve their health and to me there’s no better way to do this than creating delicious raw vegan dishes for people to enjoy and at the same time educating them on how to achieve a healthy body and state of mind! Few things are more rewarding!
